Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ¾ cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups potato chips, crushed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 4 cups water
  • ½ cup baking soda

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Mix in flour and salt, followed by melted butter.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. In a pot, bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil and gradually stir in baking soda.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small pieces.
  8. Roll each piece into a small log shape.
  9. Boil each bite for 30 seconds in the baking soda solution, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. Brush each pretzel bite with beaten egg and roll in crushed potato chips until well-coated.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until golden brown, or fry in hot oil until crispy and golden.
  12. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt before serving. Enjoy warm!
