Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200g)
  • 1 cup water (240ml)
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves (packed, 30g)
  • 1/2 cup basil syrup (120ml)
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (360ml, about 6 lemons)
  • 3 cups prosecco (720ml, chilled)
  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • Fresh basil sprigs for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add basil leaves, bring to a simmer, and remove from heat. Let steep for 15 minutes, then strain into a container.
  3. In a mixing pitcher, combine basil syrup and fresh lemon juice. Stir well to mix.
  4. Fill cocktail glasses with ice. Pour the basil-lemon mixture over the ice, filling each glass halfway.
  5. Top with chilled prosecco and gently stir to combine.
  6. Garnish each glass with a lemon slice and a sprig of fresh basil. Serve immediately and enjoy!
