Ingredients:

  • 4 medium tomatoes, diced (approximately 1 pound or 450 g)
  • 1 medium red onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup or 150 g)
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime (around 2 tablespoons or 30 mL)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Dice tomatoes; chop onion, bell pepper, jalapeño, and cilantro.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine diced tomatoes, red onion, green bell pepper, jalapeño, and cilantro.
  3. Squeeze lime juice over the mixture; sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Gently fold ingredients together until well mixed.
  5. Cover salsa and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Stir before serving and enjoy with tortilla chips or as a topping for other dishes.
