Ingredients:
- 2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced diagonally
- ¼ cup (50 g) unsalted butter
- ½ cup (100 g) packed brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup (60 ml) dark rum
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Vanilla ice cream (for serving)
Instructions:
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until combined.
- Add the sliced bananas and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
- Carefully add the dark rum to the pan. Ignite with a long lighter or match, allowing the flames to burn off the alcohol (this will take about 30 seconds).
- Stir in the vanilla extract and cook for another minute until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Serve immediately over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
