Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced diagonally
  • ¼ cup (50 g) unsalted butter
  • ½ cup (100 g) packed brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) dark rum
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon until combined.
  3. Add the sliced bananas and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.
  4. Carefully add the dark rum to the pan. Ignite with a long lighter or match, allowing the flames to burn off the alcohol (this will take about 30 seconds).
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and cook for another minute until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Serve immediately over a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
