Ingredients:
- 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
- 2 teaspoons (10g) salt
- 1 teaspoon (4g) sugar
- 1 teaspoon (3g) instant dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
- Create a well in the centre of the flour mixture. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix with a fork until it forms a shaggy dough.
- Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel. Allow to rise in a warm area for about 1-1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and let rest for 30 minutes, covered.
- If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven and preheat to 500°F (260°C).
- On a floured surface, stretch each dough ball into a circle using your hands or a rolling pin, leaving a thicker edge for the crust.
- Add your favourite toppings. Bake the pizza for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and crispy.
- Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
