Ingredients:
- 1.5 pounds (680 g) ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 cup (100 g) breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup (75 g) onion, finely chopped
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
- 2 teaspoons (10 g) salt
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) black pepper
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) dried oregano
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) ketchup
- 1/4 cup (50 g) brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon (5 g) smoked paprika (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano. Mix until just combined – do not overmix.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan, shaping it to fit snugly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika (if using).
- Spoon half of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf, spreading evenly.
- Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes.
- After 50 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven, spread the remaining glaze on top, and return it to the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
