Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread (preferably brioche, challah, or Texas toast), about 1 inch thick
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk (whole or 2%)
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon (15g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter, for cooking
- Optional toppings: maple syrup, fresh berries, powdered sugar
Instructions:
- In the shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Make sure that there are no big lumps from the egg.
- Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, soaking for about 15-20 seconds per side, ensuring it's thoroughly saturated but not falling apart.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the frying pan or griddle over medium heat.
- Place two soaked bread slices in the hot pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining butter and bread.
- Serve immediately with your favourite toppings.
