Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (250g) All-Purpose Flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
  • 6 tablespoons (85g) Unsalted Butter, very cold, cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup (240ml) Buttermilk, very cold

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (232°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Add the cold butter cubes to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry blender, your fingertips, or two knives to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour the cold buttermilk into the flour mixture. Gently stir with a fork until just combined. Do not overmix!
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch (2.5cm) between each biscuit.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
  7. Let the biscuits cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.
