Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix milk, sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  5. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Cut out rounds using a cookie cutter or knife.
  7. In a pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Carefully add dough rounds to hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes on each side.
  9. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a cooling rack.
  10. In a shallow dish, mix sugar and cinnamon, then coat each cronut in cinnamon sugar while soft.
