Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (12g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup whole milk (240ml)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Chocolate sauce or whipped cream (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a candy thermometer to monitor.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just blended (lumps are okay).
  5. Cover the batter and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  6. Using the chilled batter, dip each Oreo into the batter fully, coating them evenly.
  7. Carefully place the battered Oreos in the hot oil (fry in batches).
  8. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined baking sheet to drain excess oil.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with chocolate sauce or whipped cream if desired. Enjoy warm!
