Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and hot
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (45g) Dutch process cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (90g) dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 1/4 cups (160g) all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup (135g) semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
- Whisk the hot melted butter and granulated sugar until the mixture looks shiny and smooth. Note: This takes about 2 minutes of vigorous whisking.
- Add the 2 eggs and vanilla to the brownie mix, beating until the batter is pale and thick.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt, then fold in the dark chocolate chips.
- Spread the brownie batter into the pan until it reaches every corner evenly.
- Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the remaining egg, then stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Fold in the semi sweet chocolate chips to complete the cookie dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto the brownie base and gently press down.
- Bake for 35 minutes until the cookie top is golden and the center is set.
