Ingredients:
- 225 g lean ground beef
- 225 g bulk mild Italian sausage
- 1.5 g black pepper
- 1.5 g garlic powder
- 225 g Velveeta or processed loaf cheese, cubed
- 30 ml milk or heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 340 g cocktail rye or pumpernickel bread slices
Instructions:
- Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small crumbles. Drain all excess grease.
- Lower the heat to medium-low and stir in the cubed processed cheese and seasonings. Stir until the cheese is melted and the mixture is glossy. If thick, add milk until spreadable.
- Preheat the broiler and arrange rye bread slices on a baking sheet. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture onto each slice. Broil for 2–4 minutes until the cheese bubbles and the edges of the bread are crisp.
