Ingredients:

  • 225 g lean ground beef
  • 225 g bulk mild Italian sausage
  • 1.5 g black pepper
  • 1.5 g garlic powder
  • 225 g Velveeta or processed loaf cheese, cubed
  • 30 ml milk or heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
  • 340 g cocktail rye or pumpernickel bread slices

Instructions:

  1. Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it into small crumbles. Drain all excess grease.
  2. Lower the heat to medium-low and stir in the cubed processed cheese and seasonings. Stir until the cheese is melted and the mixture is glossy. If thick, add milk until spreadable.
  3. Preheat the broiler and arrange rye bread slices on a baking sheet. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture onto each slice. Broil for 2–4 minutes until the cheese bubbles and the edges of the bread are crisp.
