Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp Fine Sea Salt (or 50/50 salt and sugar blend, for rim)
- 1 Lime Wedge (to moisten the rim)
- 5 fl oz (45 ml) Blanco Tequila (100% Agave preferred)
- 0 fl oz (30 ml) Amaretto Liqueur
- 75 fl oz (22 ml) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- 25 fl oz (7 ml) Orange Liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau, optional)
- Large Handful of Ice (for shaking)
- 1 Thin Lime Wheel or Wedge (for garnish)
- 1 Maraschino Cherry (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Pour the rim salt (or salt/sugar blend) onto a small plate. Use a lime wedge to moisten the rim of the rocks glass. Gently press the moistened rim into the salt mix, ensuring a thin, even coating. Set the glass aside.
- Fill the cocktail shaker three-quarters full with fresh, high-quality ice. Use a jigger to accurately measure and pour the Tequila, Amaretto, freshly squeezed Lime Juice, and Orange Liqueur (if using) directly over the ice in the shaker.
- Secure the lid of the shaker tightly. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. You are aiming to dilute and chill the mixture simultaneously; the outside of the shaker should feel intensely cold, almost frosty.
- Add several large, fresh ice cubes to the prepared rocks glass. Strain the chilled cocktail mixture into the glass over the fresh ice (double-strain if needed). Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or wedge. Serve immediately.
