Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp Fine Sea Salt (or 50/50 salt and sugar blend, for rim)
  • 1 Lime Wedge (to moisten the rim)
  • 5 fl oz (45 ml) Blanco Tequila (100% Agave preferred)
  • 0 fl oz (30 ml) Amaretto Liqueur
  • 75 fl oz (22 ml) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 25 fl oz (7 ml) Orange Liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau, optional)
  • Large Handful of Ice (for shaking)
  • 1 Thin Lime Wheel or Wedge (for garnish)
  • 1 Maraschino Cherry (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Pour the rim salt (or salt/sugar blend) onto a small plate. Use a lime wedge to moisten the rim of the rocks glass. Gently press the moistened rim into the salt mix, ensuring a thin, even coating. Set the glass aside.
  2. Fill the cocktail shaker three-quarters full with fresh, high-quality ice. Use a jigger to accurately measure and pour the Tequila, Amaretto, freshly squeezed Lime Juice, and Orange Liqueur (if using) directly over the ice in the shaker.
  3. Secure the lid of the shaker tightly. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. You are aiming to dilute and chill the mixture simultaneously; the outside of the shaker should feel intensely cold, almost frosty.
  4. Add several large, fresh ice cubes to the prepared rocks glass. Strain the chilled cocktail mixture into the glass over the fresh ice (double-strain if needed). Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or wedge. Serve immediately.
