Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340g) bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped (60-70% cacao is ideal)
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) liqueur (such as Grand Marnier, Frangelico, or Amaretto, optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1g) sea salt
Instructions:
- Finely chop the chocolate. This helps it melt evenly.
- Place the chocolate, cream, and butter in the top of a double boiler set over simmering water. Alternatively, use a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan. Make sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water!
- Stir constantly with a whisk until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the liqueur (if using) and sea salt.
- Pour the chocolate fondue into a preheated fondue pot or a slow cooker set on the warm setting.
- Maintain a low, even temperature. Provide dippers and fondue forks and let everyone dig in!
