Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (15ml)
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped (approx. 1 cup / 150g)
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (approximately 680g), 80/20 blend recommended
  • 1 (15 ounce) can Manwich Original Sloppy Joe Sauce (approximately 425g)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup (approximately 120ml)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (15ml)
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard (5ml)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 6 hamburger buns, split
  • Optional: Cheddar cheese slices for topping
  • Optional: Dill pickle slices for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it up with a spatula and cook until browned all over. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the Manwich sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Top with the other half of the bun. Add cheese while the meat is hot, or serve with dill pickle slices, if desired. Serve immediately!
