Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups (192g) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting the pan
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup (177ml) milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (115g) powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour (or line with parchment paper) your cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add softened butter and granulated sugar to the dry ingredients. Beat until light and fluffy using an electric mixer or a whisk, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in milk and vanilla extract until just combined. Don’t overmix!
  6. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cake. Let the glaze set before serving.
