Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp Coarse Sea Salt or Kosher Salt (mixed with a pinch of lime zest)
  • 1 Lime wedge (for wetting the rim)
  • 5 fl oz (45 ml) 100% Agave Tequila (Blanco/Silver)
  • 75 fl oz (22.5 ml) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 5 fl oz (15 ml) Premium Orange Liqueur (e.g., Cointreau)
  • Generous amount of Ice (for shaking)
  • 1 Lime Wheel or Wedge (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Salt: On a shallow plate, spread the coarse salt, optionally mixing it with a tiny amount of fresh lime zest for aromatic punch.
  2. Rim the Glass: Take a lime wedge and run it around the outside edge of the glass rim (only the outside, or salt will drop into the drink).
  3. Salt: Gently dip the moistened rim into the salt mixture, rotating the glass evenly to coat. Set the glass aside or place it in the freezer to chill further.
  4. Measure and Combine: Using the jigger for accuracy, pour the Tequila, fresh Lime Juice, and Orange Liqueur directly into the cocktail shaker.
  5. Add Ice: Fill the shaker 2/3 full with high-quality, cold ice (fresh from the freezer, not melted).
  6. Shake Vigorously: Seal the shaker tightly. Shake hard and fast for 10–15 seconds until the shaker exterior is thoroughly frosted and incredibly cold. The chilling and dilution are key to the texture.
  7. Strain: Remove the shaker lid/tin and double-strain the mixture into the prepared, chilled glass (either over fresh ice cubes for a rocks glass, or neat for a coupe/up style).
  8. Garnish: Garnish immediately with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve straight away.
