Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups (220g) All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5g) Baking soda
  • ½ tsp (3g) Baking powder
  • 1 tbsp (6g) Ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp (2g) Ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp (1g) Ground cloves
  • ½ tsp (3g) Salt
  • ½ cup (115g) Unsalted butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 cup (245g) Pumpkin purée
  • 1 cup (200g) Light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • ¼ cup (60g) Sour cream, room temperature
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120g) Powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) Pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tsp (10ml) Milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt until no clumps remain.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Stir in the pumpkin purée, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract until uniform.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture using a spatula. Stop as soon as no more streaks of flour are visible.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 55–65 minutes.
  6. Insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  7. Whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, milk, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  8. Drizzle the maple glaze over the cooled pumpkin bread.
