Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (480g / 16 oz) Powdered Sugar, sifted
  • 5-6 tablespoons (75-90ml / 2.5-3 oz) Milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Vanilla Extract (optional)
  • Pinch of Salt

Instructions:

  1. Sift the powdered sugar into a large mixing bowl. This ensures a smooth, lump-free icing.
  2. Add a pinch of salt to the sifted powdered sugar and whisk to combine.
  3. Begin by adding 5 tablespoons of milk (or other liquid) and the vanilla extract (if using) to the powdered sugar.
  4. Whisk or beat with an electric mixer on low speed until the icing starts to come together.
  5. Add the remaining tablespoon of milk, or more as needed, a teaspoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency. Aim for a smooth, glossy icing that is easily pourable or spreadable, depending on your needs.
  6. Use the icing immediately, as it will start to harden as it sits. If you need to wait, cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the icing to prevent a skin from forming.
