Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) goldenseal root, dried
  • 4 cups (960 ml) water
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) dried chamomile flowers
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) honey (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) lemon juice (optional)
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Measure and gather all ingredients.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine goldenseal root and water.
  3. Add sliced ginger to the saucepan.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes, uncovered.
  5. Stir in dried chamomile and continue to simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a heatproof container.
  7. Stir in honey and lemon juice, adjusting to taste.
  8. Ladle into cups and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired. Enjoy warm!
