Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (125 ml) popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) vegetable oil (or coconut oil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 g) sea salt (or to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Place the pot over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.
  2. Add 2 or 3 popcorn kernels to the pot. Cover the lid.
  3. Once the test kernels pop, add in the remaining popcorn kernels and sugar. Stir to combine quickly.
  4. Securely cover the pot with the lid and begin shaking it gently back and forth over the heat.
  5. Continue shaking until the popping slows down to about 2 seconds between pops.
  6. Take the pot off the heat and carefully remove the lid, watching for steam.
  7. Immediately sprinkle with sea salt while the popcorn is still warm and toss gently.
  8. Allow it to cool slightly before transferring to a serving bowl.
