Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240 ml) lukewarm water (105-115°F / 40-46°C)
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
- 2 1/2 cups (300 g) bread flour
- 1/2 cup (60 g) whole wheat flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (7 g) active dry yeast
Instructions:
- Ensure the bread machine pan and kneading blade are clean and properly installed.
- Pour the lukewarm water, honey, and vegetable oil into the bread machine pan.
- Add the salt, bread flour, and whole wheat flour on top of the wet ingredients. Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the active dry yeast into the well.
- Choose the 'Whole Wheat' or 'Basic' cycle on your bread machine (depending on machine options). Select the desired crust color (light, medium, or dark).
- Press the 'Start' button on your bread machine.
- After about 10-15 minutes of kneading, check the dough's consistency. It should be smooth and slightly tacky. If it's too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time. If it's too wet, add a teaspoon of bread flour at a time.
- Once the cycle is complete, carefully remove the bread pan from the machine using oven mitts.
- Remove the loaf from the pan and place it on a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
