Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) lukewarm water (105-115°F / 40-46°C)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) honey
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt
  • 2 1/2 cups (300 g) bread flour
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) whole wheat flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (7 g) active dry yeast

Instructions:

  1. Ensure the bread machine pan and kneading blade are clean and properly installed.
  2. Pour the lukewarm water, honey, and vegetable oil into the bread machine pan.
  3. Add the salt, bread flour, and whole wheat flour on top of the wet ingredients. Make a small well in the center of the flour and add the active dry yeast into the well.
  4. Choose the 'Whole Wheat' or 'Basic' cycle on your bread machine (depending on machine options). Select the desired crust color (light, medium, or dark).
  5. Press the 'Start' button on your bread machine.
  6. After about 10-15 minutes of kneading, check the dough's consistency. It should be smooth and slightly tacky. If it's too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time. If it's too wet, add a teaspoon of bread flour at a time.
  7. Once the cycle is complete, carefully remove the bread pan from the machine using oven mitts.
  8. Remove the loaf from the pan and place it on a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
