Ingredients:

  • 2 slices bread (70g)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened (14g)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (28g)
  • 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (28g)
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (15ml)

Instructions:

  1. Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. (Mayonnaise on the other side)
  2. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet. Evenly distribute the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the bread. Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  3. Place the skillet over medium-low heat. Cook for 4-6 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is completely melted and gooey. Gently press down on the sandwich with the spatula occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  4. Remove the grilled cheese from the skillet and slice in half. Serve while hot and melty.
