Ingredients:
- 1 pound (454g) fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and sliced
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) water
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) lemon juice
- Pinch of salt (about ⅛ teaspoon)
Instructions:
- In the saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, water, lemon juice, and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce the heat to low and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries are softened and the sauce has thickened slightly (about 10-15 minutes).
- If you prefer a smoother sauce, use an immersion blender to blend the sauce directly in the saucepan. Alternatively, carefully transfer the sauce to a regular blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- Allow the sauce to cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
