Ingredients:
- 4 ears fresh corn, in husks
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste (optional)
- Fresh herbs (chives, parsley, cilantro), finely chopped (optional)
Instructions:
- Prep the Corn (Optional): Shuck the corn by pulling back the husks and removing the silk. Trim the ends if desired. If shucking, wash the ears to remove any remaining silk.
- Choose Your Cooking Method:
- Boiling: Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the corn to the boiling water. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the kernels are tender-crisp. Use tongs to remove the corn from the pot and pat dry with paper towels.
- Grilling: Soak un-shucked corn in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning. Place the corn on a medium-high grill. Cook, turning occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, or until the husks are charred and the kernels are tender. Carefully remove the husks (they will be hot!).
- Microwaving: Place the un-shucked ears of corn in the microwave. Cook on high for 3-5 minutes per ear, depending on size. Let the corn cool slightly before shucking (the steam will help remove the silk easily).
- Serve: Spread softened butter over the corn. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs (if using).
