Ingredients:

  • 4 ears fresh corn, in husks
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (chives, parsley, cilantro), finely chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Corn (Optional): Shuck the corn by pulling back the husks and removing the silk. Trim the ends if desired. If shucking, wash the ears to remove any remaining silk.
  2. Choose Your Cooking Method:
  3. Boiling: Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Carefully add the corn to the boiling water. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the kernels are tender-crisp. Use tongs to remove the corn from the pot and pat dry with paper towels.
  4. Grilling: Soak un-shucked corn in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning. Place the corn on a medium-high grill. Cook, turning occasionally, for 10-15 minutes, or until the husks are charred and the kernels are tender. Carefully remove the husks (they will be hot!).
  5. Microwaving: Place the un-shucked ears of corn in the microwave. Cook on high for 3-5 minutes per ear, depending on size. Let the corn cool slightly before shucking (the steam will help remove the silk easily).
  6. Serve: Spread softened butter over the corn. Season with salt, pepper, and fresh herbs (if using).
