Ingredients:

  • 2 slices sourdough bread (approximately 1/2 inch thick)
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 ounces (57g) sharp cheddar cheese, sliced or shredded

Instructions:

  1. Lightly butter one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in the pan. Arrange the cheese evenly on top of the bread.
  3. Place the second slice of bread on top of the cheese, butter-side up.
  4. Cook over medium-low heat. Gently press down on the sandwich with a spatula to ensure even contact with the pan. Cook for 3-5 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and gooey.
  5. Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately.
