Ingredients:
- 4-6 slices stale bread
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C) or prepare olive oil in a frying pan.
- Tear or cut the bread into roughly 1-inch pieces.
- Oven Method: Spread bread on a baking sheet and bake for 30-60 minutes, flipping halfway. Pan-Frying Method: Fry bread on medium heat until golden brown.
- Let the oven-dried bread cool completely.
- Food Processor Method: Pulse bread in a food processor. Rolling Pin Method: Crush bread in a zip-top bag.
- Combine breadcrumbs with optional olive oil and spices. Toss well.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
