Ingredients:

  • 4-6 slices stale bread
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C) or prepare olive oil in a frying pan.
  2. Tear or cut the bread into roughly 1-inch pieces.
  3. Oven Method: Spread bread on a baking sheet and bake for 30-60 minutes, flipping halfway. Pan-Frying Method: Fry bread on medium heat until golden brown.
  4. Let the oven-dried bread cool completely.
  5. Food Processor Method: Pulse bread in a food processor. Rolling Pin Method: Crush bread in a zip-top bag.
  6. Combine breadcrumbs with optional olive oil and spices. Toss well.
  7. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
